Jessica Pelley

EG circle Jessica.jpg

Jessica is an emerging artist that got her start right here in Eastport after participating in the Eastport Gallery’s community show and making her first sale at the Eastport Hearts for the Arts auction. A lifelong creative, Jessica didn’t really take her artistic ability seriously until just a few years ago, but once the fire lit, she took off to pursue her passion. Living and working in northern Washington county, she is also a Junior at UMaine, Orono. Double majoring in Studio Art and Art Education, she looks forward to helping other aspiring artists find their way, while also expanding and refining her own practice. Jessica’s body of work is pretty varied and becoming even more so as she experiments with new mediums and styles at school. Acrylics offer vibrancy and rapidity in capturing a sense of wonder, radiant hope, and explorations of divine feminine. Graphite, pastels and clay demand a slower pace and offer a more visceral experience. These works often explore feelings of sadness, anger, and a sense of being “broken” or out of place. Jessica’s work sometimes gives us the beauty of simple moments, but at times asks us to reexamine the full spectrum of what it means to be human.
